Where are you currently at in your career path and why did you decide to pursue this career path?

I'm currently a 2nd-year PA student and beginning my OB/GYN rotation. I decided to pursue this career because it is more flexible in terms of specialties. I'm the type of individual that gets bored quickly and I know that if I pursued a M.D. degree then I would be “stuck” in a specific specialty unless I wanted to go back and complete another residency.

If you could go back and have a chat with your naïve college freshman self, what would you tell him?

Well, for me I didn't go straight to college right after high school so I had time to get my thoughts together and become more focused when I did begin college. However, high school is completely different. If I could go back and have a chat with my naive high school self, it would be to really buckle down with my school work because being successful is not going to come by not doing what you're supposed to do.

What advice would you give to someone looking to pursue a similar path as yours?

Be ready to sacrifice things that you may not want to sacrifice. Do not pursue any career only because of the money because you will be miserable and will not enjoy it.

What is a major challenge you have had to overcome and how did you do so?

A major challenge I had to overcome was homelessness in between high school and college. I kept my faith in GOD and used my situation as motivation to better myself. I also had to understand that every great has a story.

What is your favorite thing about your PA school?

Specifically it is the diversity in my program. My program strives to increasing diversity in medicine.

What do you like to do for fun?

I enjoy hitting the gym, football, boxing, listening to music and hanging with family and friends.

What do you feel is the most challenging part of PA school? The easiest part?

The most challenging part is the volume of work. The easiest part is failing a class!

Who are some of your favorite musicians? Favorite books? Shows? Movies?

My favorite musicians are Jeezy, Don Trip, Ace Hood and Bryson Tiller. Shows: Blackish, Martin, Wayans Bros. Jamie Foxx, My Wife and Kids, and Fresh Prince.
