Where are you currently at in your career path and why did you decide to pursue this career path?
I am currently a fifth-year doctoral candidate at Georgia State University School of Public Health.
If you could go back and have a chat with your naïve college freshman self, what would you tell him?
Do not be afraid to explore various avenues related to health careers. There are a variety of career avenues from which one can choose including clinical medicine, public health and epidemiology, health policy, psychology and behavioral health, physical therapy, and health administration.
What is your favorite thing about your graduate school?
My favorite thing is attending and presenting at various state and national conferences. I get to travel to different cities across the US and meet other professionals interested in HIV prevention and health disparities research.
Do you have another professional degree? If so, how has it impacted you?
I have an MPH. It was during my MPH program that I realized I really liked epidemiology and statistics. Completing my MPH convinced me that I wanted to pursue a PhD in public health to further enhance my skills and training in those fields.
What do you like to do for fun?
I enjoy attending the opera (Carmen is my favorite one) and seeing the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
Thank you for taking the time to allow us some insight into your life bruh! The work that you do is very important and necessary in our society! You are much appreciated! Best of luck to you as you continue to achieve your goals!
