Where are you currently at in your career path and why did you decide to pursue this career path?

Currently, I am a 3rd-year college of pharmacy student and I decided to choose this career path because I have always been interested in healthcare, but Pharmacy was my primary choice as this role takes on an integrative approach involving patient monitoring, medical information, preventative care, and counseling. Not only are pharmacists one of the most trusted professions, there is a large variety of work settings; community pharmacies, hospitals, long-term care, the pharmaceutical industry, managed care and government agencies.

If you could go back and have chat with your naïve college freshman self, what would you tell her?

To trust the process; meaning to know and have faith that there is a divine plan moving through you and in your life at any moment. Although you cannot appreciate what is unfolding right now (which essentially is every moment in undergrad), you must maintain an undeniable sense of trust that the reason that this is occurring is because circumstances are rearranging for your higher good.

What is your favorite thing about your Pharmacy school?

One of the favorite things about my school is that we have numerous student organizations that support and build leadership skills, community service, teamwork, career fields of interest, and an overall responsibility and concern for the welfare of others.

What advice would you give to someone getting ready to start their application process to Pharmacy schools?

The suggestions I have while preparing to get ready for Pharmacy school is to work with their school counselor to ensure sucess, as they can help develop a plan regarding prerequisites, letters of recommendation and any other concerns. Attending health care professional career fairs, volunteering, and shadowing will help select areas of interest. Most importantly take time out to relax and have fun!

What do you like to do for fun?

I played volleyball in undergraduate school, and whenever I get free time I love to go play with friends.

Thank you for your great responses Kimberly, you are very much appreciated! Trusting the process is definitely key to ensuring that one stays motivated throughout this long, rewarding and tiring journey! Best of luck to you as you continue your studies and work towards becoming a Pharmacist!
