Where are you currently at in your career path and why did you decide to pursue this career path?
If you could go back and have a chat with your 1st year postgraduate self, what would you tell her?
Take it easy and know that you will make it; I had so much anxiety even though I was a good student. I had so much pressure from my family, or so I thought. But I had to make it, it’s the African way for kids to do well in America.
What advice would you give to a nursing student looking to pursue a similar path as yours?
A recommendation letter. It is very difficult to get to know someone who is willing to know or mentor you, so they can provide a letter of recommendation or reference. I am willing to do that for a colleague.
What is your favorite thing about your job?
How do you manage to balance your work life, your romantic relationship, and your family life?
From advice of my parents, through experience and from the book “Memoirs of a Working Mother” on Amazon; the author is the amazing Linda Nkwenti. The book has greatly inspired me.
Do you have any passions outside of treating patients? If so, what are they and how do you find time to pursue these passions?
Providing information and help for women who are trying to conceive. I encourage #tryingtoconceive women to visit www.mylembox.com and if you have any questions just email me.
What do you like to do for fun?
Spending time with my children and husband.
Thank you for sharing all of this with us Winnie, you are very much appreciated! Your perspective in the field of healthcare is very important and needs to be heard! Keep on doing great things in your career and inspiring others!
